Ilha Grande is situated off the scenic Costa Verde, or the Green Coast of Rio de Janeiro State and can be accessed via public ferries and passenger schooners that make scheduled trips between the village of Abraćo on the island and the towns of Angra dos Reis and Mangaratiba, the latter being located about 140 kilometers west of the dynamic city of Rio de Janeiro. Regular motor coach service is available between Rio de Janeiro and the towns of Angra dos Reis and Mangaratiba.

      From Mangaratiba the ferry to Abraćo ( the Village where the house is located) departs everyday at 08:00 and returns to angaratiba at 17:30; the duration of the crossing is approximately 90 minutes. The ferry from from Angra dos Reis departs to the Abraćo Village, at 15:30 during the week and at 13:30 on weekends and holidays. The passage from Abraćo back to Angra leaves daily at 10:00.

      After arriving at the peer in Abrćao, guests of Ilha Grande Beach House can walk to the beach house along Abrćao Beach (less than 15 minutes) or take a small water taxi directly to the front of the house. For those walking, luggage may be transported to the house by push-carts operated by islanders who are sanctioned by the local tourism board.

      Ilha Grande Beach House is splendidly located near the eastern end of Abrćao Beach where it is known as Canto Beach. As one strolls along this beach coming from the village a few casual beachfront restaurants are passed, each one inviting the visitor in for a cold cerveja (beer) and some fresh seafood. At just 50 meters from the house lies the entrance to the well-used system of walking trails that lead to a number of secluded beaches, including the famous Lopes Mendes Beach.
